CHECK IN AND CHECK OUT INFORMATION

Check in time for all camps is 11:00am – 1:00pm on the first day of camp.

Check out time for all camps is 12:30pm – 2:30pm on the last day of camp.

Location: Check in/out will be held at the Turner Hall Residence Hall on the campus of the University of Northern Colorado.

Completed registration forms and medical forms are necessary before any camper is checked into housing and allowed to participate in camp.
 

GENERAL MEDICAL & SAFETY INFORMATION

Medical

Certified Athletic Trainers will be on staff at each session of camp.  In addition to certified athletic trainers, athletic training students will also be on hand to assist the athletic training staff.

All medical staff are CPR certified.

Skin Care

Skin care is very important at all of our camps.  Skin checks are done throughout camp to ensure signs of infection are diagnosed early.  Athletic Training staff members are trained to identify infections most frequently associated with wrestling.  If a camper is diagnosed with a skin infection, he or she will be transported to a doctor for further medical treatment.

Wrestling mats are sanitized before every session of camp to help prevent the spread of bacteria.  Wrestlers are encouraged to purchase a skin cleanser and antiseptic before coming to camp. 

Staff

Troy Nickerson Wrestling Camps maintains a 10:1 camper to staff ratio at all times.  All staff members are required to pass a background check before employment.

Safety of Campers

Campers are required to check in to each session at camp and attendance is closely monitored.  Staff members will immediately work to locate the camper if he or she misses a check-in.  Campers are not allowed to ride in vehicles unless accompanied by a coach or staff member while at camp.  Resident campers are also not allowed to leave campus once they arrive at camp.

Staff members stay on each floor of the dormitories with the campers.  Hall monitoring and nightly bed checks are done at 10:00pm each night.
 

PACKING LIST- WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?

Campers should bring the following items with them to camp:

  • Multiple sets of workout clothes (laundry facilities are available in the residence halls)
  • Running shoes
  • Wrestling shoes
  • Kneepads (optional)
  • Headgear (optional but recommended)
  • Toiletries (including an antibacterial soap or body wash)
  • Alarm clock
  • Spending money

It is recommended that all items are labeled with the camper’s last name.  Troy Nickerson Wrestling Camps are not responsible for lost or stolen items.

Free laundry facilities are available for campers use in the dorms.  Campers should plan to bring their own laundry detergent.

Please leave all valuables at home.

COMMUTER INFORMATION

Commuters should be dropped off daily at 8:45am at the camp’s practice facilities.  Pick-up and drop-off times can vary by camp by day.  Please check your camper’s itinerary for exact times each day.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN INTENSIVE CAMP AND TECHNIQUE CAMP?

Intensive camp is for serious wrestlers and our most physically challenging camp.  Wrestlers will participate in drilling, live wrestling and technique demonstrations on top of being challenged with additional cardiovascular activities for the camp experience. 

Technique campers will wrestle in live situation, however, the general preface of camp is to focus in on the technical skills that will help each camper improve their skills.

DO I HAVE TO BE A PART OF A TEAM TO ATTEND TEAM CAMP?

No. Individuals who sign up for team camp will be paired with a team for the duration of the camp.

WILL CAMPERS HAVE TO WEIGH IN AT ANY POINT DURING CAMP?

All campers participating in our team camp will weigh in at check in for camp.

CAN PARENTS VISIT CAMPERS DURING CAMP?

Yes. All parents can visit camp at any time during camp.  If a parent is looking to stay with their camper overnight or attend any meals during camp, they will need to pay the camp fees.

MY CHILD REGISTERED FOR CAMP BUT WE NEED TO CANCEL. CAN WE GET A REFUND?

Monetary refunds will not be issued for any reason. If a camper needs to cancel their registration for camp, they will be given a camp credit for future camps.

DO YOU OFFER ANY DISCOUNTS?

Yes. There is a $25 off early bird discount for any camper who registers for camp prior to April 1st. Also, if a team has 10 or more campers at camp, each camper will receive a $10 refund after the start of camp.

DO COACHES GET FREE ROOM AND BOARD AT CAMP?

If you are a coach and bring 10 or more campers to camp, you will receive free room and board for the duration of the camp.

CAN CAMPERS REQUEST A ROOMMATE?

Yes. On the camper registration form, you can request a specific roommate. We will do our best to accommodate all requests.

MY CHILD HAS FOOD ALLERGIES. HOW CAN I ENSURE THAT THEY ARE GETTING THEIR DIETARY NEEDS MET WHILE AT CAMP?

For all campers with special dietary accommodations, please contact the camp staff upon arrival at check in. We have special dietitians that will meet with your camper at the first meal to walk them through the dining hall and help them with their request.
